FIRSTLY, I AM THRILLED TO HIGHLIGHT THE ACCOMPLISHMENTS OF OUR WINTER SPORTS TEAMS WHO HAVE RECENTLY CONCLUDED THEIR REGULAR SEASONS AND ARE NOW ENTERING CIF COMPETITION.

OUR GIRLS VARSITY BASKETBALL TEAM HAS HAD AN EXCEPTIONAL SEASON.

PLAYER LEXI MERCADO ACHIEVED A CAREER MILESTONE SURPASSING 100 POINTS SCORED.

ADDITIONALLY, THE TEAMS HAD A NEW RECORD WITH AN IMPRESSIVE 13, THREE POINTERS IN A SINGLE GAME.

PLAYER CESSA BETTY ALSO MADE HISTORY BY SCORING 40 POINTS IN A GAME LAST WEEK, BREAKING THE SCHOOL RECORD FOR MOST POINTS SCORED IN A SINGLE GAME.

OUR BOYS SOCCER TEAM HAS ALSO MADE IT TO CIF AND FINDS OUT WHO THEY PLAY IN THE FIRST ROUND THIS SATURDAY.

IN THE REALM OF ACADEMICS, OUR DEDICATION TO STUDENT SUCCESS REMAINS UNWAVERING.

RECENTLY, THE MATHEMATICS DEPARTMENT ADMINISTERED THE ICA TEST WHILE THE ENGLISH DEPARTMENT FACILITATED COMMON LIT ASSESSMENTS.

THESE EFFORTS ARE PREPARING OUR STUDENTS FOR THE UPCOMING STATE TESTING, ENSURING THAT THEY ARE WELL EQUIPPED TO EXCEL.

THE ACTIVITIES FRONT, OUR ASP CONTINUES TO FOSTER SCHOOL SPIRIT AND ENGAGEMENT.

THEY RECENTLY ORGANIZED OUR FIRST EVER PICKLEBALL TOURNAMENT, A HIGHLY ANTICIPATED AND SUCCESSFUL EVENT.

STUDENTS, DANIEL HAYAVI AND ALEXANDER SABINI WERE CHAMPIONS, EVEN DEFEATING TWO STAFF MEMBERS IN A THRILLING STAFF VERSUS STUDENTS MATCH.

ASP IS ALSO PUTTING ON THEIR ANNUAL WINTER RALLY THIS FRIDAY, THEMING THE SCARE GAMES FROM MONSTERS UNIVERSITY.

MS. CORTEZ IS USING HER GRANT TO PURCHASE A CAMERA FOR THE YEARBOOK CLASS AND MS. LAVIN IS USING THE GRANT TO PURCHASE BOOKS FOR THE BULLDOGS TO READ TO THE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL STUDENTS.

THIS FRIDAY, WE WILL HAVE A GRADUATE NUMBER 6 CAMILLA BRISTO IF SHE SUCCESSFULLY PRESENTS HER SENIOR PROJECT TOMORROW. GOOD LOOK.

FOR ACADEMICS, COLLEGE AND CAREER PREPARATION, WITH A FEW MONTHS LEFT IN SCHOOL YEAR, COLLEGE AND CAREER PREPARATION IS THE NUMBER 1 PRIORITY FOR SENIORS.

BOTH MOUNT SAC AND CITRUS CAME OUT IN JANUARY TO HELP SENIORS SUBMIT BOTH SUMMER AND FALL APPLICATIONS IN ADDITION.

THE AZAB WAS ADMINISTERED TO JUNIORS AND SENIORS.

FOR FEBRUARY, IT'S FULL OF REALLY FUN STUFF.

MOUNT SAC WILL BE BACK ON THE 12TH TO HELP WITH THE COMPLETION OF ORIENTATION AND ASSESSMENT TO ENSURE ALL OUR SENIORS ARE INTERESTED IN ATTENDING MOUNT SAC ARE PROMISED PLUS READY.

THE AZAB REVIEW IS SCHEDULED FOR THE 20TH.

STUDENTS WHO TOOK THE AZAB IN JANUARY WILL HAVE THEIR SCORES INTERPRETED AND CAN SPEAK WITH RECRUITERS FROM MULTIPLE BRANCHES ABOUT THEIR PLANS AND GRAFT.

AFTER GRADUATION, ON THE 25TH, WE WILL BE HEADING OVER TO SAN DIMAS FOR THEIR CAREER DAY AND TEACHERS WILL BE COMING OUT ON THE 27TH TO RUN THEIR ORIENTATION AND ASSESSMENT WORKSHOP TO SET UP SENIORS FOR THEIR PROMISE PROGRAM.

IN OUR INTRO TO ARTS CLASS, STUDENTS ARE LEARNING THE BASICS OF LAYING, PAINT, AND RECREATING THEIR FAVORITE ALBUM COVERS.

MIXED MEDIA AND DESIGN STUDENTS ARE CREATING A STAMP REPRESENTING A SOCIAL ISSUE OF THEIR CHOICE AND RESEARCHING AND WRITING AN ESSAY ABOUT THAT TOPIC.

FOR OUR ACTIVITIES IN DECEMBER, THE STUDENTS DELIVERED FOOD CLOTHING AND TOYS TO THE HOUSE OF RUTH IN POMONA.

ALONG WITH THESE ITEMS, STUDENTS TOOK 18 BLANKETS THAT THEY MADE FOR CHILDREN WHO ARE IN THE RESIDENCE AT THE HOUSE OF RUTH.

JUST THIS MORNING, WE HELD OUR SIXTH ANNUAL SOUP DAY, WHICH I PREPARED GREEN PASOLA LAST NIGHT.

AS EACH STUDENT WALKED THROUGH THE GATE THIS MORNING, THEY WERE OFFERED A BOLUS SOUP AND IT WAS FANTASY STUDENTS STAFF COMING BY THE RENAISSANCE FOR SECONDS AND THIRDS AND A STUDENT CAME BACK FOR SIXTH.

WE PROVIDED OVER 110 BOWLS OF NICE WARM SOUP ON A REALLY CHILLY MORNING BECAUSE IT WAS RAINING.

PM IS RAPIDLY APPROACHING AND WE ARE LOOKING FORWARD TO WISH UPON A BULLDOG AT THE SAN DIMAS CIVIC CENTER ON MARCH 7.

WE'LL BE ANNOUNCING OUR PROM COURT FINALISTS ON VALENTINE'S DAY, WHICH IS OUR RALLY.

LASTLY, FOR OUR ATHLETICS, OUR BASKETBALL SEASON BEGAN WITH AN OVERTIME WIN AGAINST WINCO AND OUR NEXT GAME WILL BE AGAINST SERA HIGH SCHOOL TOMORROW.

ENGLISH DEPARTMENT IS CONTINUING TO DO THE HEAVY LIFTING OF PREPARING THE OER CURRICULUM FOR BOARD APPROVAL.

OUR AVID PROGRAM HAS BEGUN COLLECTING DATA FOR CERTIFICATION, WHICH IS A YEARLY REQUIREMENT.

MEMBERS OF THE ETHNIC STUDIES WORK GROUP ARE WORKING ON WRAPPING UP OUR WORK WITH OUR ETHNIC STUDIES CURRICULUM TO PREPARE FOR A PRESENTATION TO THE COMMUNITY BEFORE IT GOES TO THE BOARD FOR APPROVAL.

EVERY FEBRUARY, THE CAREER TECHNICAL EDUCATION COMMUNITY CELEBRATES CTE MONTH TO RAISE AWARENESS OF THE ROLE THAT CTE HAS IN READYING OUR STUDENTS FOR COLLEGE AND CAREER SUCCESS.

THIS IS OUR STUDENTS THAT TAKE ADVANCED PLACEMENT EXAMS. YOU'LL SEE THE CURRENT DIFFERENCE FROM BASELINE IS A SMALL GROWTH, BUT WHAT I WANT TO POINT OUT IS THAT IN 2023, WE HAD A LITTLE OVER 1,800 AP EXAMS TAKEN BETWEEN BOTH HIGH SCHOOLS, AND THEN IN 2024, WE HAD OVER 1,900 EXAMS TAKEN, AN INCREASE IN THE NUMBER OF EXAMS TAKEN, BUT ALSO WE HAD 26 MORE STUDENTS ENROLLED IN AP CLASSES.

INCREASE IN THE AMOUNT OF AP TEST TAKEN AND INCREASE IN THE ACCESS TO AP.

NICE TO SEE EVEN THOUGH THAT GROWTH THERE WAS SMALL, IT'S MORE BROAD REACHING.

GOAL 2 SPEAKS TO SCHOOL SAFETY AND CLIMATE.

I SENT TWO LITTLE GRAY-HAIRED ELEMENTARY SCHOOL STUDENTS OFF AND IT WAS THE CUTEST THING.

I ALSO WANT TO RECOGNIZE AS IT IS NATIONAL SCHOOL COUNSELORS WEEK.

WE HAD KINDNESS WEEK LAST WEEK ON MANY OF OUR CAMPUSES, AND OUR COUNSELORS, THEY JUST INVEST SO MUCH IN THE SOCIAL EMOTIONAL LEARNING.

THERE'S KINDNESS CLUBS AND CHALLENGES.

THERE WERE ACTIVITIES, AND IT REALLY MAKES OUR CAMPUSES A BETTER PLACE TO BE.

I WAS LUCKY ENOUGH TO ATTEND RONENS TALENT SHOW.

THERE WERE MANY AND THERE ARE STILL MORE TO GO.

MY 5-YEAR-OLD SANG A SONG FROM TROLLS.

WHILE I BEAMED WITH PRIDE, I ALSO SAT IN THAT AUDIENCE JUST IN AWE THAT A 5-YEAR-OLD HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO PERFORM ON A STAGE LIKE WHAT WE HAVE AT BCA.

I THINK IT'S JUST A MOMENT TO JUST BE THANKFUL THAT WE HAVE SUCH A FACILITY FOR OUR STUDENTS TO EXPERIENCE AS SOMEONE WHO STUDIED THEATER IN COLLEGE, STUDIED THEATER IN LONDON FOR A SEMESTER, AND EVEN DID SOME COMMUNITY THEATER.

BCA MAY BE ONE OF THE TOP THEATERS I'VE BEEN I MEAN, THE GLOBE IN LONDON IS PRETTY COOL.

BUT THE BCA IS UP THERE.

WHICH IS REALLY GREAT BECAUSE I WAS ACTUALLY AT THE BCA EVERY DAY LAST WEEK BECAUSE AS YOU HEARD FROM OUR SANDY MUS HIGH SCHOOL REP, THEY PUT ON WILLY WONKA.

ANYBODY WHO DOESN'T KNOW THIS, SANDY MISS HIGH SCHOOL OPENS UP ONE OF THEIR SHOWS TO ALL OF THE STUDENTS.

THEY HAD 90 BSD STUDENTS FROM TK ALL THE WAY THROUGH HIGH SCHOOL WITH JUST A PRODUCTION TEAM OF FOUR ADULTS, WHICH MEANS THEY HAD LOTS OF PARENT HELP.

THEY HAD OVER 30 VOLUNTEERS HELP GET THIS PRODUCTION.

AND SEEING IT HAPPEN UP CLOSE EVERY SINGLE DAY IT WAS JUST REALLY INCREDIBLE.

THE COMMUNITY THAT EXTRA CURRICULAR CULTIVATES FOR OUR STUDENTS.

I MEAN, IT'S INTEGRAL TO THOSE MARKERS OF SCHOOL CONNECTEDNESS.

I JUST WANTED TO TAKE THIS OPPORTUNITY TO ENCOURAGE YOU TO BE CONNECTED TO YOUR COMMUNITY AND ENCOURAGE YOUR STUDENTS TO BE CONNECTED AS WELL.

THAT SHOW, WILLIE WONKA, THE PRODUCTION TEAM INFORMED ME, HAD THE LARGEST AUDIENCE OVER ALL THEIR SIX SHOWS, PROPS TO THE COMMUNITY FOR SHOWING UP.

THEY ALSO HAD RECORD NUMBER OF STAFF IN ATTENDANCE, WHICH I AS A MOM OF TWO LITTLE ACTORS IN THE SHOW WAS SO THANKFUL FOR.

IT WAS A REALLY THOUGHTFUL MOMENT.

THEY HAD THESE PERSONAL INVITES FOR EVERY SINGLE STUDENT TO GIVE TO THEIR TEACHER.

THEN WHEN THEIR TEACHER SHOWED UP, THEY GAVE THE TEACHER A LITTLE BUTTON THAT SAID, LIKE, I WAS INVITED BY THOMAS OR ANTOLIA AND SO THE KIDS SAW THEIR TEACHERS COME OUT AND SUPPORT THEM.

AND IT WAS JUST SUCH A BEAUTIFUL THING.

I LOVE BEING A PART OF THIS COMMUNITY.

I'LL BE BACK AT BCA AT THE END OF THE MONTH WATCHING RAMONA'S PERFORMANCE AND TRUCK JUNIOR.

MONDAY NIGHT, I TOO ATTENDED THE 19TH ANNUAL BONITA UNIFIED SPELLING BEE, WHERE 56 STUDENTS, FOURTH AND FIFTH GRADE STUDENTS COMPETED FOR A $250 CASH PRIZE SPONSORED BY OUR VERY OWN SAN DIMAS MASONIC LODGE.

CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR WINNER OVER GLADSTONE AND ALL THE STUDENTS WHO COMPETED, IT TAKES A LOT TO DO THAT.

PARTICULARLY AT THAT AGE, ANOTHER GREAT EXAMPLE OF RAISING THE BAR ON OUR STUDENT EXPECTATIONS.

THAT WAS A VERY NICE THING AND GOOD FOR THE HIGH SCHOOL AND GOOD FOR OUR STUDENTS.

WE JUST HAD 24 OF OUR STUDENTS RECOGNIZED AS CHORAL STUDENTS TO ONE OF THE CALIFORNIA HONOR CHOIRS, AND THAT'S JUST SUCH AN HONOR AND TO HAVE SO MANY OF THEM RECOGNIZED IN THIS DISTRICT IS INCREDIBLE.

THEY ASKED IF WE WOULD BE ABLE TO USE ONE OF OUR BOX TRUCKS TO HELP DELIVER SHOES TO PAY THE CONVENTION CENTER'S EMERGENCY SHELTER.

OF COURSE, THE ANSWER WAS YES.

ONE OF OUR EMPLOYEES, RAMON REENA, DELIVERED 250 PAIRS OF SHOES TO THE SHELTER.

I SAY THAT FOR A REASON.

THE POINT BEING IS THAT NEVER IN MY EXPERIENCE, HAVE I ENCOUNTERED SO MANY ISSUES WITH A PARTICULAR DEPARTMENT THAN I HAVE HAD HERE IN BONITA.

IT HAPPENS TO BE THE TRANSPORTATION DEPARTMENT THAT WE'RE TALKING ABOUT THIS EVENING.

IT IS EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING TO HAVE TO DEAL WITH THESE THINGS.

A LOT OF GRIEVANCES ARE BEING FILED AND THEY'VE BEEN FILED FOR QUITE SOME TIME.

THIS IS A CAUSE FOR CONCERN.

I WOULD JUST LIKE TO GIVE YOU A FEW EXAMPLES TO ILLUSTRATE AND HOW IT LEADS TO THE BIGGER PICTURE.

FIRST OF ALL, A COUPLE OF YEARS BACK, WE HAD A DRIVER THAT COMMUNICATED WITH US THAT SHE WAS SKIPPED IN THE ROTATION FOR EXTRA DUTY.

THE LANGUAGE IN THE CONTRACT, WE HAD TO DISCUSS IT.

WE ELEVATED IT UP TO THE LEVEL WHERE WE WOULD MEET WITH DISTRICT ADMINISTRATION AND HAVE THAT DISCUSSION.

WE DID, WE CAME TO A CONSENSUS AND THE MEMBER WAS PAID AND EVERYTHING WAS FINE.

WE ASSUME THAT ADMINISTRATION AND I SHOULDN'T EVEN ASSUME.

I HAVE FAITH THAT THE ADMINISTRATION COMMUNICATED THIS TO THE DIRECTOR OF THE DEPARTMENT.

FAST FORWARD A YEAR LATER, SAME EXACT VIOLATIONS, DIFFERENT INDIVIDUAL.

TO US, THAT JUST SPEAKS THAT EITHER THE INDIVIDUAL IS INCOMPETENT OR THEY HAVE A FLAGRANT DISREGARD FOR THE COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENT, QUITE FRANKLY, JUST DISREGARDING WHAT THEIR EMPLOYER, WHAT THEIR SUPERVISOR IS TELLING THEM TO DO.

THAT'S A CONCERN FOR US.

ANOTHER ISSUE THAT CAME UP, THAT WASN'T NECESSARILY A GRIEVANCE, BUT IT DID HAVE A CONCERN FOR A LOT OF THE DRIVERS WAS THAT WHEN WE DISCOVERED, ONE OF THE DRIVERS TOLD US, LOOK HEY THEY'RE HAVING ME USE MY PERSONAL CELL PHONE FOR WORK, AND WE SAID, HOLD ON, DISTRICT, WE SENT CEASE AND DESIST TO THEM SAYING YOU CAN'T DO THAT.

ADMINISTRATION COMMUNICATED BACK TO US VERY QUICKLY THAT WAS THIS FOR EMERGENCY PURPOSES, AND WE SAID, OF COURSE, NOT.

IF IT'S EMERGENCY PURPOSES, ABSOLUTELY.

WE CAN'T SAY NO TO THAT.

BUT THE PROBLEM WAS IS THAT IT WASN'T UNTIL ABOUT A MONTH LATER THAT THE PROBLEM GOT RESOLVED, AND DURING THE MEANTIME, THE DRIVERS WERE IN A LIMBO OF WHAT THE HELL TO DO. EXCUSE MY LANGUAGE.

SOME OF THE ITEMS IS THE SAFETY OF OUR SCHOOL BUSES.

WE DON'T HAVE A CERTIFIED MECHANIC.

IF WE DON'T HAVE A CERTIFIED MECHANIC, HOW CAN WE HAVE OUR BUSES WORKING THE WAY THEY'RE SUPPOSED TO BE WORKING? I THINK THAT'S SOMETHING THAT WE REALLY NEED TO LOOK UP TO AND AND GET A CERTIFIED MECHANICS BECAUSE WE HAVE RIGHT NOW THREE MECHANICS.

ONE OF THEM IS ONLY SUPPOSED TO TOUCH THE WHITE FLEET.

THAT IS JUST BAFFLING TO ME.

I WAS TOLD, I SPOKE TO A COUPLE OF PRINCIPALS.

ONE OF THEM SAID, THEY WERE CALLING ME.

I DIDN'T KNOW WHAT ELSE TO TELL THEM.

I JUST KEPT TELLING THEM, I'M SORRY.

WELL, I WOULD LIKE TO TELL THE PARENTS AND INVITE THEM TO TO SHOW UP TO THESE BOARD MEETINGS WITH MY FAMILY AND FRIENDS.

BECAUSE THE REALITY IS, THEY DON'T HAVE THE POWER CONTROL AND AUTHORITY.

WHEN YOUR PARENTS ARE CALLING THESE INDIVIDUALS, THEY HAVE NO SAY OVER TRANSPORTATION.

THAT'S WHERE THEY NEED TO GET OUT AND CALL MR. WAYNE BECAUSE THAT'S WHO DOES HAVE THE POWER CONTROL AND AUTHORITY.

WHEN WE'RE OUTSOURCING THESE VEHICLES AND WE'VE DONE A LOT OF OUTSOURCING ON THAT SIDE OF THE HOUSE.

THE PROBLEM WITH IT IS, WE'RE 4.6 MILLION IN THE WHOLE LAST YEAR, WE'RE LOOKING AT 6.8 MILLION THIS YEAR AND 6.8 PROJECTED FOR THE FOLLOWING YEAR.

WE DON'T HAVE MONEY FOR ALL OF THIS.

THAT'S WHY AT CSCA, WE'RE ALWAYS LOOKING TO IMPROVE AND ENHANCE AND MAKE THINGS BETTER, KEEP IT IN HOUSE, BECAUSE WE ALWAYS DO BETTER WORK IF WE HAVE THE ABILITY AND ACCESS TO ALL THE MATERIALS AND TOOLS AND EVERYTHING WE NEED.

THERE'S ALWAYS A REMEDY FOR THAT.

BUT THE FACT OF THE MATTER IS WE'VE OUTSOURCED SO MUCH THAT THERE'S A HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS AND HERE'S A COUPLE OF ITEMS THAT WE COULD HAVE DONE.

I'M TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHERE WE CAN MOVE FORWARD JUST TO DO THE RIGHT THING FOR THE KIDS BECAUSE THE PASSION I HEAR IS NOT ABOUT THEMSELVES IT IS FOR THE STUDENTS.
