THE PRINCIPAL'S VERY PROUD AND THE TEACHERS ARE VERY PROUD BECAUSE BOY, HOW WORK'S GOING ON. BUT ONCE IN A WHILE, YOU WOULD SEE SITTING OVER THERE, THE DAYDREAMER. I WOULD SEE THOSE DAYDREAMERS AND I WOULD SAY, YOU'RE ONE OF ME. THINKING ABOUT THAT, MY EXPERIENCE AND PERSPECTIVE LIKE EVERYONE IS DERIVED FROM LIFE EXPERIENCE. MY PERSPECTIVE IS PARTLY FROM ATTENDING BETWEEN KINDERGARTEN AND 12TH GRADE, SIX DIFFERENT SCHOOLS. THEN IT TOOK ME FOUR SCHOOLS IN SIX YEARS TO GET A BACHELOR'S DEGREE, BUT THEY SAY CS WILL GET YOU DEGREES. [LAUGHTER] SOME OF THESE COMMENTS ARE BASED ON MY OBSERVATIONS OF EDUCATION IN GENERAL, NOT BONITO UNIFIED IN SPECIFIC. I THINK AS AN EDUCATION EFFORT WE ARE REAL GOOD ABOUT GIVING KNOWLEDGE TO CHILDREN, GIVE THEM KNOWLEDGE, PACK THEM WITH KNOWLEDGE, TEST THEM FULL KNOWLEDGE, BUT WE DON'T HAVE THE WAY OF GETTING WISDOM INTO THEIR LITTLE BRAINS AND WISDOM IS NOT ON ANY CURRICULUM, BUT IT'S CERTAINLY SOMETHING WE COULD USE MORE OF THESE DAYS. WE SPEND A LOT OF TIME DIRECTING THE THOUGHTS OF THE STUDENTS, DIRECTING THEM TO THINK CRITICALLY ABOUT WHATEVER SUBJECT FROM THE START OF THE DAY OF SCHOOL DAY UNTIL THE END OF THE SCHOOL DAY AND ALL THEIR THOUGHTS ARE DIRECTED, DIRECTED, DIRECTED AND THERE'S NO TIME SET ASIDE FOR THE DAYDREAMERS TO THINK THEIR OWN THOUGHTS BECAUSE TRUST ME, THEY'RE NOT DAYDREAMING, THEY'RE THINKING, THE BRAIN NEVER GETS SHUT OFF. I JUST ASK THOSE QUESTIONS PHILOSOPHICALLY, I GUESS. TONIGHT, I'D LIKE TO SHARE SOME OTHER OBSERVATIONS ABOUT BONITA UNIFIED IN PARTICULAR, [00:10:10] AND SOME SPECIFIC SCHOOL SUPERINTENDENTS AND SCHOOL BOARD MEMBERS, THAT IT HAS BEEN MY HONOR AND PRIVILEGE TO SERVE WITH. EFFECTIVE SCHOOL DISTRICTS OR ANY ORGANIZATION DEPENDS ON GOOD RELATIONSHIPS. NOTHING GOOD CAN COME FROM BAD RELATIONSHIPS. BUT WITH RELATIONSHIPS WITH A FOUNDATION OF TRUST AND MORE IMPORTANTLY TRUSTWORTHINESS, GREAT THINGS ARE POSSIBLE. IN 1875, THE FIRST SCHOOL DISTRICT IN THIS AREA WAS CREATED WITH 11 STUDENTS. IT WAS CALLED THE SAN DIMAS SCHOOL DISTRICT. THE FIRST-CLASSES WERE HELD UNDER AN OAK TREE UP NEAR SAN DIMAS CANYON. ELEVEN KIDS. HOW WOULD YOU LIKE TO HAVE THAT STUDENT TO TEACHER RATIO THESE DAYS? OVER TIME, OTHER SCHOOLS AND SCHOOL DISTRICTS WERE FORMED TO HELP SERVE THE GROWING COMMUNITIES, WHICH WOULD EVENTUALLY BECOME SAN DIMAS AND LA VERNE. IN 1957, THE SEVERAL SMALLER DISTRICTS WITHIN THE TWO CITIES WERE MERGED INTO THE BONITA UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT. I'M VERY PROUD TO BE A PART OF THE THREAD OF THE FABRIC OF THIS DISTRICT'S HISTORY. IN MY 17 YEARS ON THE BOARD, I'VE WORKED WITH NINE DIFFERENT SCHOOL BOARD MEMBERS AND I'D LIKE TO MENTION FOUR OF THEM WITH WHOM I SHARED THE BULK OF MY YEARS ON THE BOARD. PATTI LATOURELLE WAS THE FIRST OF US ON THE BOARD. SHE WAS ELECTED IN 2001 AT A TIME WHEN THE DISTRICT'S RELATIONSHIPS WERE NOT IN A GOOD PLACE INSIDE OR OUTSIDE OF THE DISTRICT. THEY WERE DIFFICULT TIMES THEN, TRUTH BE TOLD, THE DISTRICT DID SHARE SOME OF THE BLAME. AMONG THE PROBLEMS WERE SCHOOL BOARD MEMBERS WHO HAD THEIR OWN AGENDAS, RATHER THAN BEING GUIDED BY WHAT IS BEST FOR THE STUDENTS. IN FOLLOWING ELECTIONS, GLENN CREIMAN, JIM ELLIOT, DIANE KOACH, AND MYSELF JOINED THE BOARD AND WE MADE A PRETTY GOOD TEAM. WE DID NOT AGREE ON THINGS ALWAYS, BUT ONE CRITICAL THING WE DID AGREE ON, WE WOULD NOT MICROMANAGE OUR SUPERINTENDENTS. MICRO-MANAGING MEANS YOU EITHER HAVE THE WRONG PERSON IN THE SUPERINTENDENT'S OFFICE OR THE WRONG PERSON OR PERSONS ON THE BOARD. AS A BOARD, WE BEGAN THE WORK OF IMPROVING OUR RELATIONSHIPS WITHIN THE DISTRICT WITH BUTA, WITH CSEA, WITH BUNT, AND WITH OUR TWO CITIES AND COMMUNITY MEMBERS. ALONG WITH OUR SUPERINTENDENTS, WE DID THAT WORK AS A TEAM OF SIX, AND OVER THE YEARS THINGS IMPROVED, WE WERE ABLE TO BEGIN ATTRACTING AND RETAINING SOME OF THE BEST OF THE BEST THROUGHOUT THE DISTRICT AND THE RESULTS BEGAN THE UPTURN THAT CONTINUES TODAY. I'LL MENTION FOUR OF THE SUPERINTENDENTS THAT I'VE WORKED WITH. ALL GREAT SUPERINTENDENTS BRING VISION AND INSPIRATION TO WORK EVERY DAY. DR. BOB OTTO WAS THE ARCHITECT AND INSPIRATION OF TWO IMPORTANT BOND MEASURES. PEOPLE TRUSTED HIM TO THE POINT THAT THE SECOND BOND MEASURE PASSED EVEN AFTER HE HAD RETIRED. DR. OTTO TRUSTED THE LEADERSHIP AT EACH SCHOOL SITE TO HELP DESIGN THEIR PROJECTS. THE MIDDLE SCHOOLS AND HIGH SCHOOLS ARE GREAT EXAMPLE. BOTH MIDDLE SCHOOLS WANTED NEW GYMS AND THEY GOT THEM. ONE WANTED THEIR BASKETBALL COURTS TO BE SIZED FOR MIDDLE SCHOOL PLAYERS, NOT ADULT PLAYERS, AND THAT'S WHAT HAPPENED. ONE OF THE HIGH SCHOOLS WANTED TO EXPAND THE SIZE OF THEIR CURRENT GYM, AND THAT'S WHAT HAPPENED. THE OTHER HIGH SCHOOL WANTED A BRAND NEW GYM AND THEY GOT IT, BUILT TO THE SIZE AND SPECIFICATIONS OF THEIR CHOOSING. THE BOARD TRUSTED AND EMPOWERED THE SITE LEADERSHIP, OR CERTAINLY NOT ARCHITECTS AND ON ALL THE SITES, THE PROJECTS WERE FINISHED ON OR UNDER BUDGET. [NOISE] DR. GARY RAPKIN WAS ALL ABOUT RELATIONSHIPS. WE HAD SOME VERY IMPORTANT RELATIONSHIPS THAT HE HELPED MEND AND AS RELATIONSHIPS GREW BETTER, SO DID OUR RESULTS BUT GOOD RELATIONSHIPS CAME FIRST. CARL COLES HAD SOME SMOOTH RUNNING UNTIL COVID-19 HIT. WE ALL REMEMBER THE CHAOS THAT ENSUED EVERYWHERE. CARL'S STEADFAST, CALM, AND CLEAR THINKING HELPED US MAKE THE TOUGH CALLS DURING SOME TOUGH TIMES FOR THE DISTRICT. CAN YOU IMAGINE GETTING THROUGH THOSE TIMES WITHOUT TECHNOLOGY? [NOISE] OF COURSE, EVERYONE HAD TECHNOLOGY IN THEIR SCHOOLS BY THEN, BUT IMPLEMENTATION MEANS EVERYTHING AND OUR TECHNOLOGY TEAMS LEAD THE PACK, ENSURING THAT OUR TEACHERS AND STUDENTS COULD THRIVE EVEN UNDER SUCH SEVERE CONDITIONS. WE'LL BE HEARING ABOUT ONE OF OUR KEY TECHNOLOGY VISIONARIES LATER. THROUGH ALL THIS, OUR STUDENTS FACED THE STRESSES AND EMOTIONAL CHALLENGES AFFECTING ALL STUDENTS DURING THIS TIME. FORTUNATELY, WE WERE IN A GOOD POSITION TO HELP. SINCE 2013, WE HAVE USED THE LOCAL CONTROL AND ACCOUNTABILITY PLAN TO SURVEY AND GAUGE THE WANTS AND NEEDS OF THE DISTRICT. [00:15:04] EARLY ON IT WAS EVIDENT THAT THERE WAS A NEED FOR MORE COUNSELING OPPORTUNITIES FOR OUR STUDENTS SO WE HAVE BEEN RAMPING UP OUR COUNSELING STAFF SINCE THE MIDDLE OF THE LAST DECADE. WHEN COVID-19 HIT, WE WERE LEADING THE PACK IN BEING ABLE TO PROVIDE COUNSELING SERVICES TO OUR STUDENTS. WE'VE ADDED EVEN MORE STAFF TO SUPPORT THAT VITAL EFFORT SINCE THEN. OUR ABILITY TO NOT JUST ENDURE, BUT TO EXCEL DURING THE COVID CRISIS STANDS AS A TESTAMENT TO THE TRUST AND TRUSTWORTHINESS OF RELATIONSHIPS. I'VE KNOWN MATT WAYNE OUR INTERIM SUPERINTENDENT, SINCE HE CAME TO THE DISTRICT IN 2010. I THINK THAT HIS KNOWLEDGE OF THE DISTRICT, THE ROLES HE'S PLAYED IN THE DISTRICT, HIS TRAINING, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES AND TRUSTWORTHINESS QUALIFY HIM WITHOUT EQUAL TO LEAD THE DISTRICT IN THE YEARS AHEAD. AS MY LAST MINUTES ON THE BOARD HAVE WORN DOWN, I WANT TO CONGRATULATE CHRIS ANN HORSLEY AND THANK HER FOR STEPPING UP TO THE PLATE. OVER AT BONITA THIS LAST MONTH, IT HAS BEEN ACTION-PACKED. WE HAD OUR ANNUAL DODGEBALL TOURNAMENT, WHICH HAS ALWAYS BEEN AN EVENT THAT GETS ALL OF OUR STUDENTS EXCITED AND ENGAGED WITH ONE ANOTHER. IT LASTED TWO WEEKS AND WE HAD OUR CHAMPIONSHIP STUDENT TEAM BEAT THE UNDEFEATED TEACHER STAFF TEAM IN A BEST-OF-THREE MATCH. AS THE HEAD REFEREE OF THAT MATCH, I CAN SAY THAT OUR STAFF TRIED TO CHEAT MORE THAN ONCE. [LAUGHTER] BUT ONE OF THE BEST PARTS ABOUT BONITA IS OUR COMMITMENT TO OUR COMMUNITY AND THAT SHOWED LAST MONTH, DURING OUR MONTH OF GIVING CELEBRATIONS. EACH WEEK, WE USE THE POPULAR NEW SOCIAL MEDIA APP BE-REAL, TO SHOWCASE STUDENTS DOING DIFFERENT COMMUNITY SERVICE AND WE CALLED IT BE GIVING. OUR FIRST WEEK WAS SHOWING KIDS PICKING UP TRASH AROUND CAMPUS AND THE CITY. OUR SECOND WAS ACTS OF SERVICE AND KINDNESS, AND OUR FINAL WEEK, WE HAD MANY CLUBS ON CAMPUS DONATING DIFFERENT ITEMS TO CHARITIES OF THEIR CHOICES. FINALLY, A NEW PROGRAM WAS CREATED THIS YEAR TO ENCOURAGE STUDENTS TO READ MORE CALLED THE LITERACY HIGHLIGHT. EACH MONTH, WE FOCUS ON A DIFFERENT TYPE OF LITERATURE AND PLAN EVENTS BASED ON THESE BOOKS. NOVEMBER'S THEME WAS FANTASY, BUT THIS MONTH IS COZY UP WITH A GOOD BOOK FOR OUR CHRISTMAS THEME. NEXT TUESDAY, DECEMBER 20TH, SENIORS WILL BE PRESENTING THEIR SENIOR PROJECTS, 30 OF US WILL PRESENT OUR PROJECTS IN FRONT OF ADJUDICATING PANELS THAT WILL INCLUDE MEMBERS OF THE COMMUNITY AND THE SCHOOL DISTRICT. CHAPERONE VISTA HAD A FULL DAY OF CAREER EXPLORATION AT OUR COLLEGE CAREER DAY ON DECEMBER 8TH. WE HAD 30 GUEST SPEAKERS ON CAMPUS WHO SHARED THEIR STORIES AND EXPERIENCES ON HOW THEY LANDED THEIR CAREER. THE STUDENTS WERE INVITED ACCORDING TO STUDENT INTERESTS, SURVEYS WERE OFFERED TO EACH STUDENT FROM THE COUNSELING DEPARTMENT, ALL CAREER PATHWAY CLUSTERS WERE REPRESENTED. BUSINESS, FINANCE, LAW, ART, FOOD, MEDICAL, FIRE, TECHNOLOGY, ART, CONSTRUCTION, GOVERNMENT, PUBLIC ADMIN, MILITARY, AND COMMUNITY. ALL STUDENTS SPENT FIRST PERIOD DOING RESEARCH AND TAKING A CAREER ASSESSMENT. WE WERE OFFERED VIDEOS AND WEBSITES THAT WE COULD EXPLORE ACCORDING TO OUR OWN INTERESTS. WE THEN ROTATED TO SEVEN DIFFERENT CLASSROOMS TO HEAR 14 PRESENTATIONS. ONE OF THE FAVORITES WAS THE NATIONAL GUARD. WE ALSO ENJOYED THE REAL ESTATE AGENT AND THE SUPERINTENDENT OF THE ELEVATOR UNION. THE SHEET METAL WELDING SPEAR WAS ALSO A HIT. WE HAD A SCAVENGER HUNT DURING OUR LUNCH AND THE GUEST SPEAKERS WERE OUTSIDE WITH US ANSWERING QUESTIONS. WE ALL HAD A REALLY GOOD DAY AND APPRECIATE THAT SO MANY PEOPLE FROM OUR COMMUNITY CAME OUT TO SPEND THE DAY WITH US. THE BIGGEST TAKEAWAY IS THAT THERE'S SO MUCH OUT THERE FOR US. SOME OF US CHANGE OUR MINDS ON OUR CAREER INTERESTS AND ARE RESEARCHING NEW PATHS. THE OPPORTUNITIES ARE ENDLESS AND WE WILL CONTINUE TO DO MORE RESEARCH ABOUT OUR FUTURES. ARTS, AT SHOT THIS THOUGH WE EMPOWER STUDENTS TO BECOME STRONG WRITERS BY WRITING ACROSS ALL CLASSES. OUR ART STUDENTS ARE CURRENTLY WRITING INFORMATIVE ESSAYS ABOUT THEIR FAVORITE ARTISTS. WHERE WE WILL PARTICIPATE IN AN ACT OF GIVING EACH DAY FOR THE LAST 30 DAYS OF THE FIRST SEMESTER. WE'RE CURRENTLY MAKING BLANKETS FOR THE HOUSE OF RUTH IN POMONA. THESE BLANKETS FIT A STANDARD-SIZED BED AND ARE MADE FOR THE KIDS AND TEENAGERS IN RESIDENCE AT THE HOUSE OF RUTH. WE ARE PAINTING ROCKS FOR THE STAFF MEMBERS AT SHOP OF VISTA. ON EACH ROCK, WE WILL INCLUDE AN ADJECTIVE AND A NOUN THAT DESCRIBES THE STAFF MEMBER. WE DO THIS BECAUSE OUR STAFF ROCKS. TODAY, WE PARTICIPATE IN AN ACTIVITY CALLED PAY IT FORWARD. THE DAY STARTED WITH SIX INDIVIDUALS BEING GIVEN A POSTED PAD. ON EACH PAD WAS WRITTEN A COMPLEMENT SPECIFICALLY FOR THAT INDIVIDUAL. AS YOU GUYS KNOW, THE BOYS OF WATER POLO TEAM IS IN THE LOBBY. THEY JUST WON THE DIVISION 5 CIF CHAMPIONSHIP DOWN IN IRVINE AND MADE SCHOOL HISTORY AS THE FIRST TEAM TO EVER WIN. OUR FIRST INTERIM REPORT IS ONE OF THREE ANNUAL REPORTS THAT WE LOOK AT OUR ACTUALS AND COMPARE THEM TO THE ADOPTED BUDGET FROM THIS PAST JUNE. WE LOOK AT OUR ACTUALS WHERE WE ARE AT TODAY AND THEN WE ALSO FORECAST AND UPDATE OUR PROJECTIONS FOR OUR MULTIYEAR PROJECTIONS THAT WE DO AND MAKE SURE THAT WE'RE ON TRACK. THE FIRST INTERIM REPORT IS LIKE ALL OTHER REPORTS PRESENTED TO YOU ON THE STATE REQUIRED FORMAT, BUT WE ALSO INCLUDE SOME USER-FRIENDLY SUMMARY PAGES PER FUND THAT AGAIN, OUTLINE OUR ADOPTED BUDGET IN COMPARISON TO OUR CURRENT REVISED BUDGET. WE PUT THOSE IN AND ALONG WITH OUR SITE CARRYOVERS, A LOT OF OUR SCHOOL SITES DON'T SPEND EVERY DOLLAR THAT THEY'RE ALLOCATED SO THEY ARE ALLOWED TO CARRY OVER CERTAIN FUNDS SO WE REBUDGET THEM INTO THEIR SITE BUDGETS. WE LOOK AT OUR ENROLLMENT AND MAKE ANY NECESSARY CHANGES, AND WE ADAPT OUR CALCULATIONS FOR ANY OTHER CHANGES IN LCFF REVENUE. THOSE ARE NORMAL ANNUAL CHANGES THAT WE MAKE. FOR CATEGORICAL REVENUES AND EXPENDITURES, WE LOOK AT ANY UPDATED AWARD LETTERS THAT WE MAY HAVE RECEIVED. SIGNIFICANT CHANGES THIS YEAR WOULD BE A TWO MAJOR BLOCK GRANTS THAT WE RECEIVED. ABOUT $40 MILLION WERE ADDED TO OUR BUDGET THIS YEAR FOR RESTRICTED FUNDS ONLY FOR THE NEW ARTS BLOCK GRANT AND THE LEARNING RECOVERY EMERGENCY GRANT. THAT WAS ADDED INTO OUR RESTRICTED FUND. WE ALSO LOOK AT ALL OTHER INCOME ACCOUNTS LIKE DONATIONS. WE LOOK AT OUR GENERAL FUND CONTRIBUTIONS FOR SPECIAL PROGRAMS, SPECIAL EDUCATION, AND WE LOOK AT SALARIES AND BENEFITS FOR THE ACTUAL POSITIONS THAT PEOPLE HAVE BEEN ASSIGNED TO. ANY NEW HIRES, ANY CHANGES IN STEP AND COLUMN AND OF COURSE, ANY NEGOTIATED INCREASES. AT THE TIME OF ADOPTION, WE ACTUALLY HAD INCORPORATED INTO OUR BUDGET THE APPROVED FOUR PERCENT SALARY INCREASE, BUT WE HAD SIGNED AN MOU TO REVISIT THE SALARY INCREASES ONCE WE HAD ENROLLMENT, OTHER MAJOR PROJECTIONS THAT THE STATE WAS GIVING OUT. ONCE WE HAD THAT CRITICAL INFORMATION, WE WENT BACK AND IT RESULTED IN NEGOTIATING AN ADDITIONAL SIX PERCENT SALARY INCREASE. THAT WAS ALSO ADDED INTO THE BOOKS THIS YEAR. AFTER WE COMPILE ALL THE INFORMATION AND ADJUST OUR PROJECTIONS, THE UNRESTRICTED GENERAL FUND HAD AN INCREASE OF 3.4 MILLION THAT WAS COMPRISED ABOUT 1.5 MILLION OF LCFF REVENUE AND ANOTHER 1.5 MILLION WAS FOR THE ADDITIONAL TK FUNDING THAT WE RECEIVE FOR OUR NEW ENROLLMENT AND THE ADDITIONAL ADD-ON TK FUNDING THAT CAME ALONG WITH THAT. FOR EXPENDITURES, WE HAD AN INCREASE OF 8.4 MILLION. I'VE ALREADY MENTIONED THAT THE SIX PERCENT RAISE ADDED ABOUT $5 MILLION TO OUR EXPENDITURES. WE HAD ABOUT 1.2 MILLION CARRYOVERS AND THEN WE ALSO ADDED ABOUT $2 MILLION OF TK RELATED EXPENDITURES. [00:50:04] ALL OF THAT COMPRISED OF CERTIFICATED TEACHERS IN THE CLASSROOMS ALONG WITH PARA EDUCATORS. THE PROJECTED UNRESTRICTED ENDING FUND BALANCE THAT WE'RE SEEING TODAY FOR JUNE 30TH, 2023, WE'RE SHOWING A $23.8 MILLION WHICH REPRESENTS 14.72 [NOISE] OF GENERAL FUND EXPENDITURES. THE STATE REQUIRES US TO HAVE A MINIMUM REQUIREMENT OF THREE PERCENT SO WE'RE GOOD, ALMOST 19 MILLION ABOVE THAT MINIMUM REQUIREMENT. AS THE STATE REQUIRES US TO HAVE A MINIMUM OF THREE PERCENT, SB751 NOW ALSO REQUIRES US TO HAVE A CAP OF 10 PERCENT. THIS WAS EFFECTIVE WHEN WE ADOPTED OUR '22-23 BUDGET. THE BOARD APPROVED COMMITTING SOME FUNDS IN THE EXCESS OF THE 10 PERCENT CAP. THE REASONS THAT WE DID SO WERE TO FOR FUTURE SALARY AND RAISES, FOR FACILITY AND CLASSROOM IMPROVEMENTS, AND OTHER TECHNOLOGY OR OTHER REASONS LISTED HERE. HERE'S THE HISTORICAL COMPARISON OF OUR ENDING FUND BALANCE FOR THE PAST FEW YEARS. I WANTED TO HIGHLIGHT 2022-23. ENDING FUND BALANCE SHOWS THE NEW BREAKDOWN OF HOW WE HAVE BROKEN IT UP BETWEEN THE 10 PERCENT CAP AND THE GREEN HIGHLIGHTS THE EXCESS OF 10 PERCENT THAT WE'VE SET ASIDE OR COMMITTED. THE NEXT PORTION OF THIS REPORT IS OUR MULTIYEAR PROJECTIONS. ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT COMPONENTS OF OUR MULTIYEAR PROJECTIONS IS THE LCFF CALCULATIONS. WE BASE IT ON OUR PROJECTIONS AS OF TODAY. LCFF, THE REVENUE ITSELF COMPRISES 68 PERCENT OF OUR TOTAL REVENUE SO WE REALLY TAKE THE TIME TO LOOK AT ALL THE FACTORS INVOLVED. INCLUDED IN THAT WOULD BE OUR AVERAGE DAILY ATTENDANCE, OUR COLA FOR THE YEAR, AND OUR UNDUPLICATED PUPIL COUNT. FOR '22-23, THE FUNDED ADA ACTUALLY THIS YEAR IS WE'RE BEING FUNDED ON THE GREATER OF PRIOR-YEAR-CURRENT-YEAR OR A THREE-YEAR AVERAGE. WELL, WE KNEW THIS HAD ADOPTION, BUT WHAT HAPPENED AT THE ENACTED BUDGET WAS THERE WAS A MODIFICATION TO THE FORMULA WHICH ALLOWED US TO ACTUALLY USE OUR 1920 ATTENDANCE PERCENTAGE TIMES OUR '21-22 ENROLLMENT. THAT SOFTENED THAT CLIFF THAT WE'VE BEEN HEARING ABOUT. THIS TRANSLATES INTO OUR DOLLARS PER ADA CHANGE. YOU SEE THE LITTLE BUMP UP THERE FOR '22-23 AND THE DOLLARS PER ADA, IF A STUDENT COMES TO SCHOOL EVERY SINGLE DAY FOR THE FIRST 135-36 DAYS, WE WOULD RECEIVE, ON THE AVERAGE, $11,000. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT WE ENCOURAGE ATTENDANCE FOR MULTIPLE REASONS, BUT HERE'S JUST ONE OF THEM. SPEAKING OF ENROLLMENT, WE TRACK ENROLLMENT VERY CLOSELY. AT THE BEGINNING OF THE YEAR, IT'S A TEAM EFFORT. WE RECRUIT OUR SCHOOL SITES, USUALLY, IT'S OUR SECRETARIES AND WE APPRECIATE ALL OF THEIR HELP. WE ASK FOR PHYSICAL HEADCOUNTS FOR THE FIRST FIVE DAYS SO WE CAN GET AN IDEA OF WHAT OUR ENROLLMENT MIGHT LOOK LIKE. AFTER THE FIRST FIVE DAYS, WE CHECK BACK IN WITH THEM ON THE 10TH DAY. OTHER INFORMATION THAT YOU'LL SEE THAT WE INCORPORATE IN OUR MULTIYEAR PROJECTIONS IS AN INCREASE IN THE PERS RATE AS STRS IS PROJECTING A FLAT RATE RIGHT NOW, BUT I'M SURE THAT WILL CHANGE AS TIME GOES ON. ROUTINE STEP AND COLUMN AND INFLATIONARY INCREASES FOR MATERIALS AND SUPPLIES AND SERVICES BUT THERE'S NO OTHER MATERIAL BUDGET INCREASES THAT WE'RE FORECASTING RIGHT NOW. I JUST WANTED TO POINT OUT THAT AT THIS TIME LAST YEAR, WE WERE LOOKING AT A 7.39 PERCENT FUND BALANCE. THE OUTLOOK HAS REALIZED IT LOOKS MUCH BETTER NOW. WE'LL SEE WHERE WE'RE AT A YEAR FROM NOW. I JUST TURNED IT OFF. HERE YOU GO. WE HAVE SOME REQUIRED DISCLOSURES. LIKE I MENTIONED, WE HAVE THE AMOUNTS IN OUR THREE-YEAR PROJECTIONS FOR A THREE PERCENT MINIMUM AND THE AMOUNT ABOVE THAT MINIMUM. THEY DID GO INTO WIN THE STATE CHAMPIONSHIP, WHICH WAS ICING ON THE CAKE. BUT YOU KNOW THAT ONCE TRACKS OVER ALL THE SPORTS ARE PRETTY MUCH OVER SO THEY PUSH IT. THE BOYS BY WINNING ONE RIGHT NOW TOOK THE PRESSURE OFF ALL THE OTHER ATHLETES [LAUGHTER] THROUGH THE REST OF THIS YEAR SO THEY CAN GO OUT AND REALLY EXCEL BECAUSE THEY DON'T HAVE TO STRIVE FOR THAT.
