WE'RE LOOKING FORWARD TO THE POSSIBILITIES OF WHAT 2021 WILL BRING.

OUR FIRST SEMESTER OF ONLINE LEARNING BROUGHT OPPORTUNITIES TO PLAN EVENTS WITHIN SOCIAL DISTANCING GUIDELINES.

WE HAD OUR SEMESTER SOCIAL EVENT WITHIN [INAUDIBLE] WHERE WE COMPETING GAMES AND COMPETITIONS ON SOCIAL MEDIA.

WE HAD A SENIOR DRIVE THROUGH WHERE OUR SENIORS WERE ABLE TO ORDER THEIR GRAD ANNOUNCEMENTS, PLAY GAMES, [INAUDIBLE] EVENT AT THE END OF FEBRUARY WHERE WE ALL CROWN A HOMECOMING QUEEN AND KING.

WE'RE ALSO PLANNING SENIOR NIGHTS FOR OUR FALL ATHLETES, AND WE'RE EXCITED TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR THEM WITH A VERY SPECIAL EVENT.

IN FEBRUARY, WE WILL ALSO BE WORKING WITH THE LEUKEMIA AND LYMPHOMA SOCIETY TO DO A FUNDRAISER.

WE WILL BE WORKING WITH SAN DIMAS HIGH SCHOOL, LONE HILL MIDDLE SCHOOL, AND RAMONA MIDDLE SCHOOL TO RAISE AS MUCH MONEY AS POSSIBLE.

WE HAVE MORE VIRTUAL RALLIES PLANNED FOR THIS SEMESTER AND ANOTHER BIG BATTLE OF THE BEARCATS AT OUR ACTION NIGHT IN THE SPRING.

OF COURSE, WE WILL BE ENDING YEAR WITH OUR SENIOR AWARDS NIGHT AND GRADUATION.

THIS YEAR, BONITA USD HAD CREATED A LOT OF NEW EVENTS FOR STUDENTS.

IT HAS BEEN A UNIQUE AND DIFFICULT YEAR, BUT OUR TEAM HAS RISEN TO THE CHALLENGE.

WE'RE KEEPING A POSITIVE OUTLOOK AND TRYING TO CREATE AS MANY OPPORTUNITIES AS POSSIBLE FOR ALL STUDENTS WHO ARE CONNECTED FROM HOME.

WE ALSO CELEBRATED OUR FIRST GRADUATE OF THE YEAR.

RONNIE RODRIGUEZ, WHO SUCCESSFULLY PRESENTED HIS SENIOR PROJECT, HE WAS THE FIRST ONE WHO PRESENTED VIRTUALLY AND IT WORKED REALLY WELL.

CONGRATULATIONS AGAIN, RONNIE.

OUR APPLICATION FOR A MODEL SCHOOL DECISION WAS REVIEWED AND OUR SCORES QUALIFIED AND IS FOR A VIRTUAL VALIDATION [NOISE] FOR MEMBERS OF THE CALIFORNIA CONTINUATION EDUCATION ASSOCIATION.

MANY LITTLE VARIOUS STEPS COLD-AIR GROUPS HAVE BEEN TAKING PLACE THROUGHOUT THIS WEEK.

WE SHOULD LEARN MORE ABOUT OUR STATUS AS A MODEL SCHOOL WITHIN IN THE NEXT FEW WEEKS.

ACADEMICS, COLLEGE, AND CAREER PREPARATION, IN ACADEMICS, ENGLISH 3, STUDENTS HAD BEEN READING THE CRUCIBLE, A CLASSIC PLAY RECOMMENDED BY THE CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION.

THE JUNIOR CLASSES CONQUERED THE FIRST TWO ACTS.

AT THE CONCLUSION OF ACT 2, THE WRONGFUL ACCUSATION OF MULTIPLE CHARACTERS AND ANALYSIS OF THE THEME OF INJUSTICE, STUDENTS EXAMINED REAL-WORLD CONNECTIONS WITH THE INNOCENCE PROGRAM.

ILLEGAL ORGANIZATION THAT FIGHTS FOR JUSTICE FOR WRONGFULLY ACCUSE PEOPLE.

STUDENTS RESEARCHED REAL-WORLD CASES OF INJUSTICE AS DOCUMENTED IN THE INNOCENCE PROGRAM, USING COURT DOCUMENTS, LEGAL PROCEEDINGS, WITNESS TESTIMONY, AND OTHER TOOLS THROUGH THE ARGUMENTIVE CASE YOUR CLASS.

[INAUDIBLE] CLASS OF THE ACCUSED INNOCENCE, STUDENTS WILL PRESENT A SLIDESHOW AND PRESENT ORAL ARGUMENTS ON CHOSEN CASE.

SUCH POWERFUL STORIES, BOTH FICTION OR NON-FICTION, STUDENTS WITNESSED HARM AND FALSE ACCUSATIONS, FALSE IMPRISONMENT, RACISM, AND INJUSTICE.

BUT THEY CAN ALSO LEARN ABOUT THE POWER OF SCIENCE, SOCIAL JUSTICE, AND COMMUNITY AWARENESS.

IN COLA PREPARATION, MOUNT SAC REPRESENTATIVES WILL BE MEETING VIRTUALLY WITH SENIORS TOMORROW AS APART OF OUR HIGH SCHOOL OUTREACH PARTNERSHIP TO FACILITATE A WORKSHOP TO HELP AND PREPARE OUR SENIOR TO ATTEND SAC.

THEY WILL MEET WITH SENIOR SEVERAL TIMES THIS SEMESTER TO ASSIST WITH APPLICATION PROCESS, ASSESSMENT, AND ACCOUNT THINGS, SCHEDULING AND ENROLLMENT.

ARTS, MR. MYER'S ART CLASS IS LEARNING THE FUNDAMENTALS OF DRAWING.

STUDENTS ARE LEARNING HOW TO TAKE BASIC SHAPES AND TURN THEM INTO DRAWINGS.

MR. PANDAS CULINARY CLASSES, STUDENTS ARE LEARNING ABOUT PLATING AND THE IMPORTANCE OF PRESENTATION IN THE FOOD PREPARATION PROCESS.

ACTIVITIES. STUDENT MONTH RALLY ON DECEMBER 16TH, WE PLAYED A SCHOOL-WIDE [INAUDIBLE] WHERE PARTICIPANTS WERE SHOWN A LYRIC FROM A HOLIDAY SONG, AND WE HAD TO GUESS WHICH SONG LYRIC WAS FROM.

AS I SAID BEFORE, A RALLY WAS HELD AFTER SCHOOL FOR THE FIRST TIME.

THEY WEREN'T SURE HOW MANY STUDENTS WOULD ATTEND.

THE RALLY WENT REALLY WELL WITH THE MAJORITY OF THE STUDENTS SHOWING UP EVEN THOUGH IT WASN'T A REQUIRED.

FIRST, I'M GOING TO START TO TELL YOU ABOUT OUR ACADEMICS.

OUR STUDENTS AND STAFF JUST GOT BACK FROM THEIR TWO-WEEK WINTER BREAK, WHICH WAS FROM DECEMBER 18TH TO JANUARY 4TH.

WE ARE CURRENTLY OFFERING TWO FORMS OF FREE TUTORING.

ONE, IS AN AFTER-SCHOOL TUTORING SERVICE, MONDAYS, WEDNESDAYS, AND FRIDAYS FROM 3:15 TO 4:15 IN ENGLISH, MATH, SCIENCE, AND SPANISH, AND OUR OTHER FORM OF TUTORING IS A 24-HOUR SERVICE THROUGH PAPER, AND THAT TUTORING IS FOR ALL SUBJECTS.

NOW FOR ACTIVITIES, THE SOFTWARE CLASS JUST HAD A FUNDRAISER AT SQUEEZEME WHICH IS ON ARROW HIGHWAY, AND IT'S A BOBO PLACE.

THEY ARE ALSO HAVING A FUNDRAISER SELLING SAN DIMAS SOCKS FOR $12 A PAIR.

ON DECEMBER 18TH, WE HAD A SCAVENGER HUNT AROUND SAN DIMAS THROUGH THE APP ACTION PLAN WHICH IS CREATED THROUGH [INAUDIBLE].

OUR SENIOR CLASS IS ALSO SELLING CLASS T-SHIRTS AND SWEATSHIRTS TO HAVE FOR A MEMORY WHEN THEY GRADUATE.

ALSO, A LOCALLY OWNED AND OPERATED CAFE LAS PUPUSAS IS HAVING A DEAL FOR OUR SAINTS, $3 THURSDAYS.

IF THEY GO INTO THE RESTAURANT AND SHOW THEIR STUDENT ID, THEN THEY CAN GET A FEW THINGS OFF THE MENU FOR $3 EVERY THURSDAY.

NOW FOR ATHLETICS.

THERE IS STILL NO NEW UPDATE ON WHEN WE CAN START COMPETING IN GAMES BUT OUR [INAUDIBLE] SPORTS ARE STILL PRACTICING SAFELY.

WE WILL HAVE MORE UPDATES FROM CIF AT THE END OF THIS MONTH.

WE WOULD LIKE TO CONGRATULATE ARTURO OROZCO FOR HAVING OFFERED TO PLAY FOOTBALL AT THE UNIVERSITY OF SOUTHWEST MINNESOTA.

I'M REALLY THRILLED FROM THE BONITA HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT WHO SPOKE TODAY THAT THEY'RE DOING THE SAME AS WELL WITH THE POMONA HOSPITAL, THE TOYS FOR TOTS, THE LEUKEMIA FUNDRAISER.

I'M VERY EXCITED AS A COMMUNITY OF WHAT WE'RE DOING.

WE HAD BLACK LIVES MATTER PROTEST AND PROTEST AT WASHINGTON, AND BOTH OF THE LAST TWO HAD A SMALL GROUP OF PEOPLE WHO BROKE THE LAW AND DID CRIMINAL ACTIVITY.

THEN, YOU HAVE BOTH SIDES, LEFT AND RIGHT, FIGHTING EACH OTHER BECAUSE WE BELIEVE THE FEW SHOULD DEFINE THE WHOLE.

ALL OF THIS HAS CREATED A VERY CRAZY 2021.

I COULD UNDERSTAND WHY PEOPLE ARE VERY FRUSTRATED RIGHT NOW.

THEY'RE COOPED UP AT HOME.

THEY HAVE, IN MY CASE, A DAUGHTER WHO GETS REALLY MAD IF HER COMPUTER RESTARTS OR IF SHE MISSED CLASS FOR A MINUTE BECAUSE I TOOK TOO LONG EXPLAINING THE METRIC SYSTEM.

THERE'S A LOT OF CHALLENGES OUT THERE, SO IF I COULD COMMUNICATE ANYTHING AND FOR WHATEVER IT'S WORTH, NO MATTER WHAT YOUR POLITICAL VIEWS ARE, PLEASE KNOW YOU'RE WELCOME HERE.

REGARDLESS OF WHAT YOUR RELIGIOUS BELIEFS ARE, YOUR RACE, ANY OF THE CATEGORIES YOU CAN BE DEFINED BY, YOU'RE WELCOME HERE AND WE'RE ON YOUR SIDE.

WE WANT TO MAKE SURE YOU GET THE BEST POSSIBLE EDUCATION.

I GUESS IN SOME ECHO CHAMBERS, YOU COULD SEE SOMEONE WHO DISAGREES WITH YOU AS BEING BAD OR DEFICIENT OR SOMEHOW CREATING PROBLEMS. BUT IN THE PAST, AND I THINK YOU HAVE THIS IN SOME LOCAL GOVERNMENTS OR GOVERNMENT BODIES WHERE YOU SEE DIFFERENCE OF OPINION AS A STRENGTH, YOU'RE LOOKING AT SOMETHING AT A DIFFERENT SIDE.

IF WE CAN WORK TOGETHER TO FIND THE BEST SOLUTIONS FOR EVERYONE, I THINK WE ALL BENEFIT.

WHEN WE HAVE THIS, I GUESS, BREAKDOWN OF CATEGORIES, WE WERE LOOKING AT THE WHOLE BUT WE'RE ALSO LOOKING AT ALL THE PARTS.

IT IS THE FIRST TIME SINCE 2006 THAT EVERY SITTING MEMBER CAMPAIGNED FOR AND WON THE ELECTION FOR THEIR SEAT.

THIS IS SOME INTERESTING ARCANE HISTORY THAT I'D LIKE OUR NEW MEMBERS TO BE AWARE OF.

YOU KNOW WHERE YOU ARE FROM YOUR HISTORY, AND SO IN 2006, WE HAD A BOARD MEMBER NAMED ED JONES WHO PASSED AWAY.

ROBIN CARTER WAS APPOINTED TO FULFILL THE REST OF HIS TERM.

SHE HAD SERVED ON THE BOARD PREVIOUSLY, SO IT WAS A GOOD CHOICE.

THE FOLLOWING ELECTION WAS THE ELECTION THAT GLENN WAS UP, JIM ELLIOT WAS UP, AND THERE WAS AN OPEN SEAT, AND SO DIANE KOACH FILED FOR THAT SEAT AND NO ONE ELSE DID.

WE DID NOT HAVE A CONTESTED ELECTION THAT YEAR AND WE DID NOT HAVE A CONTESTED ELECTION AGAIN UNTIL 2018 WHEN DEREK JOINED THE BOARD, AFTER PATTI LATOURELLE RETIRED.

AT ONE TIME, WE HAD TWO BOARD MEMBERS AT A TIME WHO HAD NOT HAD TO RUN A CAMPAIGN AND GET ELECTED.

WHEN JIM ELLIOT RESIGNED, WE APPOINTED MATT LYONS FOR HIS POSITION, AND THEN WHEN MATT RESIGNED, WE APPOINTED KRISTA TO HER POSITION.

NOW WE ALL HAVE SOMETHING IN COMMON AND I THINK THAT'S PROBABLY A GOOD THING.

WE ALL HAVE HAD TO RUN A CAMPAIGN, WIN A CAMPAIGN, AND AGAIN, CONGRATULATIONS TO GLENN, GREG, AND TO CHRISTOPHER FOR THEIR SUCCESSFUL CAMPAIGNS. THAT'S ALL I HAVE TONIGHT.

YESTERDAY, I HAD A OPPORTUNITY, ACTUALLY ALL OF EXECUTIVE CABINET ALONG WITH SENIOR DIRECTOR MARK ROGERS.

WE WERE ABLE TO PARTICIPATE IN A MODEL SCHOOL MEETING FOR CHAPARREL.

SO CHAPARREL IS ALTERNATIVE EDUCATION, AND THEY'RE GOING AFTER A MODEL SCHOOL AWARD RECOGNIZED BY THE CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION.

IN THIS PROCESS, THE CHAIR OF THE COMMITTEE HAS MULTIPLE MEETINGS THROUGHOUT THE WEEK.

YESTERDAY WAS THE MEETING WITH THE STUDENTS AND WITH THE STAFF, TWO SEPARATE MEETINGS.

ONE OF THE TAKEAWAYS THAT I WALKED AWAY, EXECUTIVE CABINET, WE GOT TO PARTICIPATE IN A STAFF MEETING.

BUT ONE OF THE WALKAWAYS WAS HIS COMMITMENT AND REALLY IT'S THIS RECIPROCAL LOVE FOR THE STAFF AND THE STUDENTS AND WHAT THEY HAVE FOR EACH OTHER THAT THIS BOND.

TO THAT POINT, WHEN THE STUDENTS WERE ASKED WHAT BROUGHT THEM TO CHAPARREL, THE CHAIR WAS EXPECTING ANSWERS LIKE WELL, MIGRATES, IT WAS CREDITS, ETC.

BUT THAT'S NOT WHAT THE STUDENTS ANSWERED WITH.

THE STUDENTS ANSWERED WITH RESPONSES THAT THIS IS A PLACE WHERE I BELONG.

THIS IS A PLACE THAT I'VE FOUND SUCCESS IN SCHOOL, THAT THEY OTHERWISE WOULD HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED SOMEWHERE ELSE, AND THE LOVE THAT THESE STUDENTS HAVE FOR THEIR TEACHERS.

AFTERWARDS, I HAD AN OPPORTUNITY TO TALK TO CHRIS BLACK, AND I SAID, "HOW ARE YOU FEELING?" SHE GOES THAT MOMENT WAS PROBABLY ONE OF THE GREATEST MOMENTS OF HER PROFESSIONAL CAREER AND THEN ONE OF THE GREATEST MOMENTS OF PRIDE.

USING HER WORDS, IT ALMOST BROUGHT HER TO TEARS.

HEARING THE STUDENTS TALK ABOUT THIS SENSE OF BELONGING AND SUCCESS THAT THEY HAVE FOUND IN ALTERNATIVE EDUCATION, THAT THEY DIDN'T FIND SOMEWHERE ELSE.

SEPARATE MEETING THAT WE WERE ABLE TO PARTICIPATE IN.

THE STAFF EXPRESSED THE SAME IDEALS, NOT KNOWING WHAT THE STUDENTS HAD SAID, THE SAME LOVE FOR THEIR STUDENTS, AND THAT SAME SENSE OF BELONGING THAT THEY FEEL CONNECTED TO THAT SCHOOL AS WELL.

EVEN THOUGH THAT THIS COMMITTEE LOOKS AT ALTERNATIVE EDUCATION AND THEY'RE GOING AFTER AWARD, RIGHTFULLY DESERVED TO BE RECOGNIZED BY THE CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION AS THIS MODEL SCHOOL.

I THINK WHAT CHAPARREL SERVES AS A MUCH BIGGER PICTURE AND A BELIEF SYSTEM THAT RESONATES THROUGHOUT ALL 13 OF OUR SCHOOLS AND IN THIS DISTRICT.

IT REALLY IS A MODEL FOR ALL SCHOOLS AND ORGANIZATIONS REGARDING HOW IMPORTANT IT IS TO HAVE A HEALTHY CULTURE.

HOW THAT HEALTHY CULTURE TRANSLATES INTO A POSITIVE IMPACT FOR BOTH THE STUDENTS AND THE STAFF THAT WORK THERE.

THE THING IS, I THINK WHAT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT IS THAT THIS TAKES PLACE IN ALL 13 OF OUR SCHOOLS BECAUSE THIS IS A PLACE IN THIS DISTRICT, WHERE WE BELIEVE THAT ORGANIZATIONAL HEALTH WILL ALWAYS TRUMP STRATEGY.

THAT HAS TO BE FIRST.

THIS HAS TO BE A PLACE WHERE STUDENTS FEEL LIKE THEY BELONG, IT HAS TO BE A PLACE THAT 1,100 EMPLOYEES FEEL GOOD ABOUT WORKING HERE.

WHEN YOU HAVE A STRONG ORGANIZATIONAL HEALTH, YOU HAVE THE RIGHT PEOPLE AND THE RIGHT SKILL SET.

THIS DISTRICT WILL CONTINUE TO BE UNSTOPPABLE.

IT'S ONE OF THE BEST SCHOOL DISTRICTS IN THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA, AND WE'RE JUST GOING TO KEEP GETTING BETTER AND BETTER AND BETTER, AND I THINK YESTERDAY WAS A GREAT REMINDER OF HOW IMPORTANT THAT IS.

WHEN YOU SEE THE CULTURE COMING OUT OF CHAP AND THEN KNOW THAT'S RESONATING AND TAKING PLACE AT ALL 13 SCHOOLS, SO THANK YOU.
